About
The founding venture of the Amibara Group, Amibara Agriculture, was established by Haji Abdultaif Omer. Born in 1968 GC in a modest town close to the Afar region, Haji Abdultaif Omer showcased his entrepreneurial flair from a young age. With a bold move in 1994, he leased 800 hectares in a locality called Badhamo in the Afar Regional State. Since its inception, Amibara Agriculture has expanded impressively to now cover over 7,391 hectares.
Following the success of the agriculture venture, the group diversified by founding the Awash Biscuit and Flour Factory with an initial investment of 6,000,000 ETB. This strategic expansion showcased the group’s commitment to broadening its reach into other sectors of the economy. Presently, the factory boasts a daily output of 324 quintals of wheat flour and 78 quintals of biscuits.
Another pivotal expansion involved the establishment of Amibara Transport. This company was initiated through the acquisition of a fleet of long-haul trucks for an initial fee of 4,500,000 ETB, facilitating the efficient transportation of agricultural commodities across various regions including Djibouti.
The group’s most substantial acquisition to date was the purchase of Addis Modjo Edible Oil Complex for 75,000,000 ETB. This acquisition marks a significant milestone and has made Addis Modjo’s products well-recognized in households across the region. The group continued to grow with the establishment of Amibara General Aviation Services (AGAS) in 2004 GC. This venture began after acquiring five aircraft from Ethiopian Airlines for 25,000,000 ETB. Initially reliant on seconded pilots from Ethiopian Airlines, AGAS has since developed its own cadre of pilots and aviation staff.
