Pinterest is a photo and video sharing social media platform founded in 2010 by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp, and Paul Sciarra and headquartered in San Francisco, California. Pinterest takes its name from the combination of “Pin” and “Interest”, which means to pin points of interest in the form of pictures to “PinBoard”.

Pinterest’s core features include “Pin” (to collect pictures or videos), “Repin” (to forward content shared by others to a personal Board), “Like” (to personal visible likes), and “Board” (a collection of pictures or videos). Users can create multiple artboards, organize pictures according to their interests, themes, or projects, and display the image content in the form of waterfall streams. There is no need for users to turn pages, and new pictures are automatically loaded at the bottom of the page. This display method not only enhances the user experience, but also makes Pinterest an important platform for discovering inspiration and ideas.
