Gemshu Beyene Construction (GEBECON) PLC, is one of the indigenous construction companies focusing and specializing on road construction works. Since its establishment, the Company has been making maximum effort in contributing its fair share in the development of national road infrastructure. Despite the many challenges facing the sector, GEBECON Plc has successfully completed major road construction projects meeting the required quality standards and satisfying the needs of its client and stakeholders. In this regard, the successful completion and handing over of the Diredawa- Dangago-Dewalle-Kulubi 280 k.m routine term maintenance project in 2011 and the Maytsebry-Dima 76.6 k.m Asphalt Road Project in 2013 can be mentioned as key achievements of the company. These projects have been delivered and made ready for the intended use prior to the contract period.

Currently, the Company has major Asphalt Road Construction projects on hand with the status of good accomplishment. So far, the Company has created job opportunities for more than 500 permanent and 2,000 temporary employees. The Company’s staff mix is so diverse with good educational background ranging up to PhD level.

GEBECON PLC has well noted the call for efficient, effective and well established system in the face of complex dynamics driving the construction sector and an increasing pressure towards the provision of the highest quality road construction services. Accordingly some bold steps have been taken thus far by the management to re-enforce comprehensive change and transformation of the Company, which include the implementation of ISO 9001:2008.

Moreover, realizing the glaring need to identify and develop strong human resource base, the Company is spearheading in terms of human resource development by giving workshop and training programs as well as arranging on the job-training to upgrade the knowledge and skills of its employees. Continuous assessment and development of the leadership capacity of the management is also another important area of engagement to improve the Company’s entrepreneurship flair.

The company is also making huge investment in the use of advanced construction technologies and the transfer of advanced equipment management and maintenance system, and modern construction management practices. The management always upholds the importance of making further improvements in the organization and management of the company to ensure that the Company remains strong in the provision of the highest quality road construction services in the years to come.

At this point in time, GEBECON Plc fully recognizes the continuous support provided by the government to develop the capacity of indigenous construction companies to enable the Country retain foreign currency drainage.
